ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with ABB business areas, develops the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. The Materials team at ABB’s Swiss research center focuses on the development and manufacturing of innovative materials to be implemented in the company’s next generation of products.
We are currently offering interested students the chance to join our multidisciplinary team of researchers in the field of polymer technology. In the frame of a six-month internship scheduled to start in September 2021, you will be able to put theory into practice by contributing to one of our projects on future energy technologies. Your responsibilities

  • Contributing to current research projects focusing on innovative polymeric materials and production processes
  • Extending your knowledge of polymers and electrical insulation applications
  • Conducting independent research in the field of polymer technology
  • Evaluating findings and presenting test results to the team
  • Preparing intelligible documentation of results
  • Your background

  • Degree program (official enrollment is essential) in Materials Science/Chemistry or similar discipline (completion of at least six semesters)
  • Broad understanding of materials with focus on polymers or polymer composites
  • Basic knowledge in engineering design and software tools (CAD etc.) is of advantage
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated mindset and ability to work independently
  • Highly conscientious individual with keen sense of responsibility
  • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken
