Salary: $64,474.97 to $93,390.77 pro rata per annum

Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Cytology Hospital Scientist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.

The cytology unit is a busy laboratory within Anatomical Pathology. We are recruiting for passionate, skilled and committed cytology scientist with CT (ASC) to join our team. We are seeking those with knowledge and skills, but also the motivation to learn, develop, and contribute to the cytology unit.

The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to screen both gynaecological and general cytology specimens

This is a part-time role two days per week.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent and Australian Society of Cytology certificate. 
3.Demonstrated current cytology Laboratory experience and a sound theoretical knowledge of Cytotechnology.
4.Demonstrated ability and experience in both gynaecological and general cytology specimens screening.
5. Demonstrated understanding of Cytology laboratory procedures.
6. Demonstrated customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
7.Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and high level of detail in all allocated tasks
8.Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
